1. Mars/Uranus conjunction
2. New moon in Virgo
Mars/Uranus Conjunction
I've mentioned it before, but it bears repeating, that we are now
experiencing a long term conjunction of Mars and Uranus in Pisces
(for the most part - Uranus retrogrades back into Aquarius this
month until the end of the year) lasting until the end of October.
Any cycle of Mars with an outer planet lasts roughly two years until
its next new phase, or conjunction, begins. The last time Mars
conjoined Uranus was November 27, 2001 at 21 Aquarius, and the next
time it will be May 15, 2005. The current conjunction is lasting a
long time because of both planets' retrograde motion, but the actual
partile aspect was on June 23, 2003 at 4:03 pm edt if we place it at
Washington, DC, which is how we see what it means for our country.
For any other country, just correct 8:03 pm GMT for the capital of
the country and use its co-ordinates.
When I first looked at this chart, I was reminded of the recent
movie, "Chicago", and in particular, the number, "Razzle Dazzle."
(Do you suppose it's co-incidence that the movie is hot right now?)
The MC of a country's chart is the leader, the president or king.
Jupiter is on the MC in Leo, but it is opposite Neptune at the IC
where it is just 2 minutes from being exactly conjunct the fourth
cusp (and therefore opposite the MC) and 6 degrees from squaring the
Ascendant. Neptune rules the fifth. This is show-biz. If the public
persona of the leader is a deception, then what is the truth?
The ruler of the tenth is in the 8th, which is our collective
resources, debts, investments, etc. The Sun is within one degree of
conjoining Saturn. Also in the 8th is Mercury and Venus, both
opposite Pluto, which is the chart ruler and is in the second. The
real focus is on "conflict, pain and doubt" (Saturn) about money,
and in particular, money going out (8th). Laws in this two years
will most likely revolve around labor, as we are now seeing with the
attempt to change overtime rules. The ninth house ruler is in the
sixth. I was against that, but this moon is not aspected negatively,
so maybe it's not a terrible atrocity. However, the ruler of the
sixth is conjoining Uranus (of course, since this is the chart of
it's exact conjunction), and that may be the crux of what the whole
two years is about.... a grass roots (4th house) rebellion and anger
about this very thing. But, even that is aspected well. In fact,
it's in a grand trine to the ascendant and the Sun/Saturn. The
Jupiter and MC (and Neptune) are in good relationship to the
Mercury/Venus in the 8th, which I think means the president is
reading us well and most likely will do "A Tap Dance" that isn't too
shabby. This chart does assuage my apprehensions considerably.
Note that the conjunction of Mars/Uranus at partile was in the third
degree of Pisces (remember 0 to 1 is the first degree, so 2 to 3 is
the third one). The Sabian symbol for that degree is "Petrified tree
trunks lie broken on desert sand." Rudhyar says it's a symbol of
indestructibility, relating it to records of great civilizations
left behind, but emphasizing that only fragments remain. Complete
records could never be preserved, just the archeological remains
symbolizing the enduring and therefore, the archetypically
significant. The next two years, therefore, could be significant
regarding the enduring global legacy we leave behind as a
civilization.
It is also interesting that Mars stationed at 10 Pisces, the 11th
degree, and the next conjunction of Mars and Uranus will also be in
that degree. The Sabian symbol for that one is "Men traveling a
narrow path seeking illumination." Rudhyar says this opens the 69th
five fold sequence and a new level of consciousness. This is a
system involving dividing the wheel into five degree segments,
seventy-two in all. Uranus in Pisces,
itself, is significant as a harbinger of spiritual (Pisces)
awakening (Uranus). Mars, being an initiator of energy, as is the
conjunction, is surely the trigger of events leading us in that
direction.
New Moon in Virgo
Right now the above conjunction is especially potent because
Jupiter, Venus and a lunation have been triggering it. The new moon
at 4 Virgo is just a lunation, not an eclipse, and only ushers in a
month of endurance. It is interesting, though, that today the
legislature begins the process of changing the overtime laws, and
the chart for the new moon reflects this. The new moon chart is
based on August 27, 2003 at 12:27 pm EST (note that is standard
time; use 1:27 pm if you want daylight time and you'll get the same
chart) in Washington, DC. The ninth house is full, but Venus, ruler
of the sixth, is at the MC, but in the ninth. Jupiter rules the
second and is also in the ninth with the Sun and Moon, both of which
rule the intercepted ninth house using the Koch system. All of this
is opposite Uranus and Mars in the third, with Mars being close to
the IC. Again, an angry rebellion.
The Sabian symbol for the lunation's degree, fifth degree of Virgo,
is "A man becoming aware of nature spirits and normally unseen
spiritual agencies." Or, as Rudhyar says, "The opening of new levels
of consciousness." Virgo is the opposite of Pisces and is the sign
of practical application of spiritual principles, which is like
saying "putting form to the unseen." I.e. putting your beliefs to
work in service to others. The negative side of Pisces can be
laziness, escapism, deception, etc. Certainly, after unions were
formed, we contended with misuse of union purposes, and it was the
unions which initiated the
time-and-a-half-for-overtime laws. With this opposition, perhaps an
awareness of needed reform is necessary and a good thing,
considering that Jupiter is involved in the stellium in Virgo. Also,
it is worth noting that Venus and the MC are sextile and Uranus/Mars
are trine Saturn in the 8th, so in some way, this may be good for
the economy in the long run. Please note, this was not my personal
opinion at the outset of this missive, but only the conclusion
strictly from an astrological point of view, which has surprised me
considerably!
